Vičiūnai Group has established another new company - this time, we’re heading to Greece
Vičiūnai Group is expanding its presence in Greece and launching active operations through its newly established trading company, "VG Emporio Monoprosopi A.E".
The new company will help the Group develop sales more
consistently, work more closely with retail chains and organise product supply
more efficiently.
“Until now, we have operated in the Greek market through a distributor, and we
will continue that partnership. Establishing our own company gives us more
opportunities to strengthen VIČI’s position, respond more quickly to market
needs and expand our operations steadily,” says Nerijus Šarkauskas, head of the
new company.
One of the next steps is to make the supply chain more efficient. According to Šarkauskas, the company is considering using a local warehouse in Greece. Products would be delivered there in larger shipments and then distributed to customers, helping to optimise logistics.
The Group has already taken its first steps in Greece. In March this year, Vičiūnai Group participated in Food Expo Greece for the first time. According to Šarkauskas, visitors showed particular interest in VIČI Gyoza, and conversations with potential customers at the exhibition have since developed into concrete negotiations. The Group plans to participate again next year.
“We want to work with Greece’s major retail chains. We have already entered one of them: the first products are now being supplied, and we have received a repeat order. We are continuing discussions with other chains about expanding the range,” says Šarkauskas.
According to him, the first five products listed by the retail chain come from three categories: two Gyoza products, two pancake products and one salmon product. Their taste and distinctive qualities help them stand out in a market where they face limited competition. In the future, the company aims to expand its range with surimi and fish products.
The company sees opportunities in the Greek market both in retail and in the HoReCa sector. A member of the local team is already working with retail chains, and the company plans to add a specialist next year to develop the hotel, restaurant and café channel.
“Our goal is to become one of the leaders in our chosen product categories. Initially, we are focusing on products with clear potential. We will then expand the range in line with customer and consumer needs,” says Šarkauskas.
To introduce business customers to VIČI products, the company is also considering holding an educational MasterClass event next year to demonstrate how the products can be used in a variety of dishes. The event would be timed ahead of Greece’s tourist season, giving customers an opportunity to explore new menu options in advance.
